Army Families are Army Strong

I'm sure this works for the Regular Army...but it was not seen for our deployments with the Cal Guard. Each family was pretty much on their own.
Something I hope they have improved on, but I know Cal Guard hasn't really done much as they only have 5 full time people for the largest state in the country.

CI-Roller Dude - I can certainly appreciate your sentiments. I've been in units that have great family support groups and also units that have lousy family support. When it comes down to it, the families have to ban together and stick up for themselves. If you can find one or two good people who are willing to put forth the effort, that really makes a big difference.

I know that there are some contentions among the types of service members (think Marine vs Navy) but ANYONE who laces up a boot in service of my country is okay with me. I support them all equally, but I have even more respect for those families who are left behind. They deserve a civilian medal for their sacrifices.
