Remember the Fallen

On this last day of 2009, take a moment to remember our fallen comrades.

"We came upon him sitting in the sun,
Blinded by war, and left. And past the fence
There came young soldiers from the Hand and Flower,
Asking advice of his experience.

And he said this, and that, and told them tales,
And all the nightmares of each empty head
Blow into air; then, hearing us beside,
'Poor chaps, how'd they know what it's like?' he said.

And we stood there, and watched him as he sat,
Turning his sockets where they went away,
Until it came to one of us to ask
'And you're--how old?
''Nineteen, the third of May.'"

And so it is in every war. I always remember. I play YouTube tributes to our troops here and gone, I play them for my grandkids and I talk to them about our troops and the respect they deserve. Though I don’t know their names or where they are from or their family, I will never forget them.

Coffee... it's a pleasure having you as a contributor to my blog. I wish the best this coming year.

Here's one of my favorite Irish blessings for you.

“May you have love that never ends, lots of money and lots of friends. Health be yours whatever you do, and may God send many blessings to you.”

Happy New Year!
